Aurelo ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Aurelo desktop application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). 2.2 Audio Data

Important: When you use Aurelo to translate live audio:

  • Audio streams are sent directly to third-party AI providers for real-time processing
  • We do NOT store, record, or retain any audio data — audio is streamed and discarded immediately after translation
  • We do NOT store translated text — transcriptions and translations exist only in the session and are not saved to our servers
  • Audio is processed by third-party AI services (see Sub-processors list below)
  • No personally identifiable information is extracted from audio content

2.3 Automatically Collected Information

When you use the Service, we automatically collect:

  • Device Information: Operating system, hardware model, device identifiers
  • Usage Data: Translation session duration, language pairs used, feature usage
  • Technical Data: IP address, browser type, app version, error logs
  • Performance Data: Translation quality metrics, latency measurements

2.4 Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential Cookies: Required for authentication and service functionality
  • Analytics Cookies: Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand user behavior (can be opted out)
  • Preference Cookies: Remember your theme choice and language preferences

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect Service functionality.

2.5 Session Recording and Heatmaps

We use Microsoft Clarity to collect behavioral data including:

  • Session Recordings: Anonymous recordings of user interactions on our website (mouse movements, clicks, scrolling)
  • Heatmaps: Visual representations of where users click and how they navigate
  • User Journey Analysis: How users move through our website

Privacy Protection: Microsoft Clarity automatically masks sensitive information like passwords, email addresses, and payment details. Session recordings are anonymized and cannot be traced back to individual users.

You can opt out of Microsoft Clarity by using browser privacy settings or the Microsoft Privacy Dashboard.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

Aurelo operates globally. Our primary infrastructure is hosted with Hetzner in EU data centers (Germany), ensuring compliance with European data protection standards.

8.1 Data Transfer Mechanisms

Your data is primarily stored in the European Union via Hetzner (Germany). Some third-party sub-processors (such as AI translation and analytics services) may process data in the United States or other countries. These transfers are governed by the standard contractual terms and privacy policies of each provider, including reliance on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable. See Section 10 for the full sub-processor list.

8.2 Safeguards

We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data, including encryption, access controls, and contractual obligations with third-party processors.

9. Children's Privacy

Aurelo is not intended for use by children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected], and we will delete such information from our systems.

10. Sub-processors

We use the following third-party service providers to operate Aurelo. Each is engaged under their own standard terms and privacy policy. We do not store audio or translated text — those data flows pass directly to the relevant provider for real-time processing only.

  • OpenAI — AI translation and speech synthesis
  • Soniox — Speech-to-text transcription
  • ElevenLabs — Text-to-speech voice synthesis
  • Stripe — Payment processing
  • Hetzner — Cloud hosting and data storage (EU — Germany)
  • OneSignal — Push notifications
  • Cloudflare — CDN, DDoS protection, DNS
  • Google Analytics — Website analytics
  • Microsoft Clarity — Session recordings and heatmaps
  • Meta — Advertising measurement for Facebook and Instagram campaigns

We may update this list as our sub-processors change. You can opt out of Google Analytics at any time using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, and you can manage Meta ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings.

11. Marketing Communications

11.1 Opt-In

We will only send you marketing emails if you have consented to receive them during account creation or through your account settings.

11.2 Opt-Out

You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by:

  • Clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any marketing email
  • Updating your preferences in your account settings
  • Contacting us at [email protected]

Note: Even if you opt out of marketing emails, we will still send you important transactional emails (receipts, account notifications, security alerts).

11.3 Anti-Spam Commitment

Aurelo is committed to responsible email practices and strict compliance with anti-spam regulations. We explicitly prohibit the use of unsolicited messages to advertise our website or services.

Our Anti-Spam Policy:

  • We do not send unsolicited commercial emails (spam) to advertise our website
  • We do not purchase, rent, or use email lists of individuals who have not explicitly requested information from us
  • We do not engage in any form of unsolicited bulk messaging or automated mass emailing
  • All marketing communications are sent only to individuals who have opted in through our website or account registration
  • Every marketing email includes a clear and functional unsubscribe mechanism
  • We honor opt-out requests immediately and maintain a suppression list

12. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers have "Do Not Track" (DNT) features that signal to websites that you do not want to be tracked. Currently, there is no standard for how DNT signals should be interpreted. We do not respond to DNT signals, but you can control cookies and tracking through your browser settings.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of material changes by:
